BIG PICTURE, BABY!

“At first glance, it may seem like the artists in this show don’t have much in common (well, other than ‘going big or going home’ that is), but when you look a little closer there are actually quite a few similarities that connect them. From vivid color palettes and dizzying patterns, to bizarre narratives and intricate details… and, of course the fact all of five of these artists step up to the canvas with a fearless approach to art making. “Big Picture, Baby” will be bringing larger than life portraits, bold paint strokes, and even a few big laughs to Skye Gallery this winter.”

CUT & COLOR

CUT & COLOR / PATRON ART HOUSE / VANCOUVER BC / NOV 2018 - JAN 2019

“This exhibition examinee the practice of layering narrative, a dialogue shared between Danielle Krysa and Sarah Gee Miller through the navigation of colour, space and cultural context. Krysa reworks clippings from photographs and magazines using paint and text to position subjects within the realm of the surreal, often with humour and a twist of the unexpected. Miller’s mathematically symmetric abstractions run vertically, along layers of curving and overlapping circuits, each pulsating with vibrant hues.”

WORKs ON PAPER

WORKS ON PAPER

A stroke, drip or blob of paint, a little person snipped from the pages of an old book, and a funny narrative title to tie the whole thing together! These works on paper began in 2015 and continue until today. Keep an eye on my SHOP as new collections of them released monthly.

VANCOUVER MURAL FESTIVAL 2018

MURALS

MURALFEET.jpg

VANCOUVER MURAL FESTIVAL, AUGUST 2018

I was invited to paint five (FIVE!?) murals on various walls around Vancouver in the summer of 2018. Because they’d be scattered around Mount Pleasant, I decided to use the same palette/dots on all of them to connect them visually. I was hoping the community would see these candy-hued dots as perfect selfie backdrops… and they did!
